HD Hyundai Aromatics was established in 2009 through a joint venture between HD Hyundai Oilbank and the Japanese refiner Cosmo Oil. It has a production system that can produces 1.42 million tons of BXT annually and produces and sells paraxylene and benzeneserves that serves as a primary material for different industries, including plastics, synthetic resins, and polyester fibers.

HD Hyundai Aromatics started commercial operations of its second plant in 2013 in response to increasing petrochemical demand in Asian countries such as China and India. It now has a production system capable of annually producing 1.18 million tons of paraxylene and 240,000 tons of benzene. HD Hyundai Aromatics is set to further nurture growth engines based on its improved facilities and marketing capabilities.
